Projects
ROC is currently working towards the construction and operation of its first commercial scale pyrolysis plant in Australia. This project will consist of a 200 tonne per day pyrolysis plant using wood waste as feed.
A number of potential projects have been investigated during 2007. Several opportunities have been identified, and ROC is presently focusing on the development and implementation of one of these.
Feed supply, customers and plant sites have all been identified and agreements are being sought over coming months to secure long-term, commercial arrangements with the various parties involved. Once agreements are in place, detailed project implementation over approximately 18 months should lead to an operational plant in 2009.
The first Australian pyrolysis plant will be based closely on a modular pyrolysis plant built by Dynamotive in Guelph, a city close to Toronto in Canada. (See photo of plant during construction in 2007). The Guelph plant commenced operational trials in late 2007. Further details are available on the Dynamotive web site.
The first Australian project will be commercial in its own right. This operating plant will also underpin the longer-term expansion of ROC’s pyrolysis business to multiple sites around the country.
Financial analyses of several alternative project scenarios show good rates of return, and ROC will work actively to develop other projects on its own and with interested partners. The development of additional, value-added products will further enhance the commercial prospects of future plants.
